Hoo are you looking at?

A Northern Saw-whet owl perched outside of our field station. This lucky bird is the brand new recipient of an aluminum leg band used for migration research. Being northern forest species, they rarely come in contact with humans, so they are pretty tame and fearless... that is, if you can actually find one.
